Dell to Introduced Two New Laptops this Fall

[Archived in Dell, Entry]

[MobileWhack.com - News and Reviews on everything mobile : Cell Phones, PDAS, Mp3 Players, Digital Cameras, Camcorders, Laptops,] Nobody knows there names yet, but Dell Plans to introduce two new high end Laptops sometime this fall. Here are a couple of pictures of them. Maybe one of the names is the Dell XPS Laptop as the picture suggest.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Laptop Review] Dell to Launch High-End Notebook Line: ‘Dude, Dell is going upscale! The company plans to roll out a series of high-end PCs, which the company calls the “Lexus of their lineup,” this fall. The machines will include both desktops and laptops priced between $1,200 and $3,500, and will sport a look similar to the company’s current XPS series (pictured), which is targeted at gamers and media junkies.

Also featured will be what the company calls “white glove” service, which willinclude more online and in-home service options. We’re down with that, as long as they don’t send Steve.

[Laptops.engadget.com] Dell’s new Inspiron XPS Gen 2 - Laptops - laptops.engadget.com: If you’re the mobile gaming or the mobile media type—you know who you are—then Dell’s got your ticket (again). Their new second gen version of the Inspiron XPS keeps with the out of this world specs and price: $2800 gets you an 8.6-pound beast of a Sonoma-based machine (yeah, they finally switched to Pentium M chips), replete with a new insane 17-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) widescreen TrueLife screen, user-upgradeable 256MB GeForce Go 6800 Ultra graphics, dual channel DDR2 SDRAM, and some LED lighting around the chassis they found in their hearts to shave down to 1.67-inches thick. Oh, and they’re resurrecting an old Dell classic: personalizeable lid covers!

[Laptops.engadget.com] Dell Inspiron XPS (P4 EE) reviewed - Laptops - laptops.engadget.com: It ain’t the prettiest laptop around by any means, but the Dell Inspiron XPS has a solid reputation as a gaming workhorse.  The latest model comes with the same high-end graphics as before and ups the processor to a 3.4-GHz Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition.  If you’re going to blow over four grand on a laptop, however, you may want to look at more specialized gaming notebooks from folks like Falcon Northwest and VoodooPC—PC Magazine agrees. Well, that and have your head examined. Did we say that?

[Laptops.engadget.com] Laptops - laptops.engadget.com: Break out the champagne, everyone, because it’s finally happened: for the very first time laptops have outsold desktops! According to research firm Current Analysis, sales of laptops accounted for 53 percent of the total PC market last month, up from 46 percent a year earlier. Oh yeah, there’s only one problem: this is almost exactly the same news that was reported in May of 2003, when the New York Times (among others) wrote about how for the first time, “Laptops accounted for more than 54 percent of the nearly $500 million in [US] retail computer sales.” Ah, the amnesia of tech journalism.
