[Krunker] Toshiba has announced three new Qosmio/Dynabook additions to their lineup. The most dramatic change is the use of the Intel 915 chipset across all new models.

[Mind Poison] Microsoft Just Can't Do Consumer Devices: I think Microsoft was pretty successful in the last round. They entered the market last against two very established console brands, and now stand having sold about 3 million more Xboxes than Nintendo has sold Gamecubes (the statistics I've seen put Sony at about 30 million PS2s, Xbox at around 13 million, and Nintendo at around 11 million). The console had to do entirely without such huge PS2 hits as the Final Fantasy series, the Grand Theft Auto series, and the Metal Gear Solid series, and obviously they never had Mario or Metroid or Zelda like Nintendo did.

In the terminals, I got strong signals when I used just the internal Wi-Fi radio in the ThinkPad, as well as when I relied on the Linksys card. The power of that card and Mimo became evident only at Newark when I sat near a parking garage entrance. The signal strength using the Linksys laptop card was "very good" compared with "low" when I used the ThinkPad's internal Wi-Fi.

[Laptops.engadget.com] Toshiba’s rocks Sonoma on their new Dynabook SS MX & LX - Laptops ...: In our society, where the computer industry is told to stop referring to IDE drives as master and slave to be more politically correct, we’re a little glad Toshiba’s SS line won’t be headed here any time soon (at least not but through importers). But their new Sonoma-based Dynabook SS MX/LX lineup still makes our little hearts go pitter-patter: the 1.1-inch thick SS MX features a matching 1.1GHz CPU (we’re assuming that means it’s one of Intel’s Ultra-low Voltage Pentium Ms, unless we haven’t been told something), a 12-inch XGA screen, 5-hour battery, DVD-R/RW/RAM (RAM?? Weird!), 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 60GB HDD, SD and CompactFlash slots, and, oddly, only 256MB RAM.
