[Scobles Link Blog] A free download from Microsoft, the Experience Pack adds a few useful extras to the tablet experience. InkArt is a rebadged version of ArtRage, and is one of the best reasons for buying a tablet PC. The snipping tool is useful too, the crossword is kind of fun if you’re bored. The ink desktop is a nice little extra - makes it possible to scribble with ink directly on the background of your desktop.

[jkOnTheRun] MindManager may work on the Sony U: Quite some time ago I tried to use MindManager on the Sony U ultra-portable computer and had some trouble that I thought was due to the touch screen on the Sony U. MindManager has been totally Tablet-enabled and I was eager to give it a go on the Sony (with the Tablet OS installed) but could not get some of the ink to "stick" to the screen. I conversed with Mindjet about this and our joint consensus was that the touchscreen of the Sony was not compatible with the Tablet functions of MindManager. I have been getting into MindManager heavily since getting the HP tc1100 Tablet PC and now that I am familiar with the way the pen functions work in MindManager I believe what I thought was an inability to work on the Sony was in fact just the way MindManager works on the Tablet PC. Sony U owners who would like to use MindManager on the UPC (with the Tablet OS installed) should download the demo version of MM and give it a try. Pay special attention to the use of gestures in MM which gives it all the Tablet functionality and please report back if it works for you.

Even if you (like me) aren’t a developer or don’t plan to submit code, you can still register for a chance to win a sixth unit so definitely check out the contest pages which feature a very nicely implemented OneNote-style navigation tab set.

[The Tablet PC Education Blog] Who Should Buy Computers for School Students?: I'd suggest considering a Tablet PC today. I don't know what's coming next, but it will likely be faster and more useful for student learning. A Tablet PC or other ink enabled instrument provides almost a state-of-the-art tool to accept electronic instruction for school-based learning.
[Eric Mack On-Line - www.EricMackOnline.com] Tecra M4 Out-of-Box Experience: I have an issue with weight and on that count feel the Fujitsu 12 inch screen with the builtin CDRW/DVD drive may be better for me. I could go for the Tecra Toshiba but is it really better than the Fujitsu. I am a physician and move around a fair bit and also have to deal with movie clips like angiograms. Any suggestions.
[Shhh-Life!-er?] Eric Mack starts opening his Toshiba!!!: As many of you know, I've been trying to figure out what type of tabletPC to get for a few months... decided that the tecra was the tabletPC I wanted.. Mr. Eric Mack purchased one after many trials and tribulations in trying to get a tabletPC of his own. He's been blogging his experience on his web page
The Tablet PCs Weblog - tabletpcs.weblogsinc.com _: Eric has a post that I’m sure will resonate with a lot of folks. He’s still creating an optimum setup for his new Tecra M4 Tablet PC and writes about spending two hours removing stuff Toshiba pre-installed on his machine. I generally go through the same process and I think Eric makes some good points, especially the idea that if someone is going to go to the expense (both time and money) to create a custom built machine, why not provide the choice of what is installed? I know Toshiba has a master disk image for mass-producing off-the-shelf configurations but this would be a great way to interact with their best (i.e.

The Student Tablet PC: "I've written recently about some of the more exotic capabilities of OneNote, but I thought I would spend a little time on Note Flags. Note Flags are one of the fundamental features of OneNote that makes the power of having an electronic notebook apparent. Oddly, although we consider Note Flags one of the fundamental features of OneNote that everyone should be using, I still meet people who either never use them, or have not discovered the awesome power of Note Flags Summary. And they are still using OneNote - go figure :-)

The Tablet PC Education Blog: i did use it for some presentations in educational settings, but mostly i was taking notes - in as discrete a way as possible. unfortunately, my impression (and that of others with the project) is that the tablet is still often seen as invasive or intimidating by the groups we worked with. they largely come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and some members have aversions to academia and research in general. in my mind, this is understandable, as academics have not always looked out for their best interest.
