[Engadget.com] Engadget - www.engadget.com: That TiVo is looking for a new Senior Software Engineer who will be responsible for transferring “video content between TiVo and other devices (Windows, Mac, portable media players, phones, etc.),” i.e. TiVoToGo, isn’t all that shocking given the news from earlier today (though it is encouraging to see them listing support for Mac on there), but what is a little weird is that they’re also expecting this person to work on “Transcoding from various formats (MPEG-4, QuickTime, AVC, DivX, etc.) to TiVo MPEG-2.” We can’t think of many reasons to transcode into TiVo MPEG-2 (the other way around is another story entirely), so it sounds like—and we could be completely wrong here—they could be looking at ways to take video that’s downloaded from the internet and play it back on a TiVo box. Or something along those lines, we’re sort of scratching our heads over this one. Any thoughts?
[Engadget.com] Elecoms USB PC Cooler - Engadget - www.engadget.com: Millions of dollars of precise laptop engineering is nothing 50 bucks won’t fix — at least that’s what Elecom hopes you’ll think. They’ve got a USB powered cooling system that promises to keep your laptop chilled while also elevating it to a comfortable angle. Two different models are available, which should accomodate most any sized laptop. But hey, if your laptop doesn’t need it, maybe you can use it to keep your un-airconditioned apartment cool this summer.

[Thegadgetblog.com] The Gadget Blog: Gadget reviews, Gadget News, Gadget Tech Specs.: We were just starting to have nights of restful sleep not caught up dreaming of the lovely Sharp Zaurus SL-C3000, when boom, they launch the SL-C3100 (in Japan, of course). Why, Sharp, do you taunt us so with your 416MHz XScale, 128MB Flash, 64MB RAM, 4GB drive-equipped Linux PDAs, when the best weve got to show up with is the Palm LifeDrive? Besides the Flash memory upgrade (up from 16MB), it doesnt look much different though, still rockin that dazzling 3.7-inch VGA touch screen and CF/SD slot”still no built-in wireless.
